Pat Pohl (CPO) Owner, Swim Coach
Pat Pohl is from Charleston, South Carolina. In 1974, he attended Clemson University on a Military Academic Scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Park Administration in 1978. He earned a Master of Science Degree in Human Resources Management from Troy State University, Alabama in 1981. In 1991, he graduated from the Department of Defense Command and General Staff College. In 1993, he retired from the Army and worked 7 years as a Corporate Director of Human Resources. For 9 years, Pat worked full time coaching and teaching swimming and tennis and coordinating tennis and swim programs at the Courtyard Indoor Swim and Tennis Club. Pat has coached high school swimming for two years, high school tennis for two years, USA year-round swimming for nine years, and summer team swimming for ten years. Pat is best known for his ability to teach detailed strokes, starts, turns, and finishes and to spot swimmer and tennis players’ stroke flaws and make necessary corrections.


Pat holds a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification and a current Pool - Spa Operator Certification. He is a certified Water Safety Instructor and holds an American Swimming Coaches Association Level 2, stroke school certification. Pat is also a certified USPTR tennis teaching professional. He has been coaching and teaching swimming for over 20 years. Pat is still a very active competitive tennis player and has recently won the State Hardcourt Championship in his age group. Pat has been married for 32 years to Amy Pohl, a second grade elementary teacher. He has a daughter that is a graduate of Georgia College and State University in Education and a son that has graduated from Atlanta Christian College with a degree in Biblical studies.
